This lovely Promicroceras is well above average size and has been preserved in light yellow calcite and has an immaculate centre. The ammonite itself lies at the top of an aesthetic piece of matrix which also has a flat base for upright display. Approximately 200 million years old.
A classic piece of original Marston Marble which has been ground gem smooth into this organic shape then a high polish applied to reveal wonderful detail and colours in each cross section of an ammonite. This scarse material is highly sought after worldwide. Billions of these small ammonites were ikilled off some 200 million years ago in a single catastrophe either by a poisonous alge bloom or maybe volcanic activity. The base is flat for upright display.
A really nice piece of original Marston Marble which is absolutely packed with hundreds of these small ammonites (Promicroceras marstonense) which are approximately 200 million years old. This classic fossil material is rare especially quality pieces such as this one. Throughout the piece radiate beautiful calcite septarian veins which really adds aesthetics to the whole look.
