Click to enlarge   Name Otoites sauzei (D`Orbigny)
  ref AMM3851
A superb and rare example which has both lappets preserved and an immaculate centre. The ammonite was discovered in the mid 1990's from a locality which is no longer accessible to the collector. The specimen has been prepared by Andy Cowap and lies in an aesthetic piece of Oolithic matrix which also has a level base for display purposes. The ammonite has been preserved in solid calcite and would make an important addition for the discerning collector. Approximately 171 million years old.
Age Jurassic, Inferior Oolite, Sauzei Zone
  Size Size of ammonite 48mm
  location Clatcombe, Dorset, UK

Click to enlarge   Name Normannites densus (Stunning lappets)
  ref AMM3849
Many hours of preparation have gone into this superb example from a locality which was only collectable for 12 months as it was back filled during the mid 1980's. The ammonite has been cleaned both sides and left in a small piece of rock in which to display the specimen. The ammonite must have been buried quickly after death as it's very fragile lappets would be have been susceptible to damage. Normannites with the lappets preserved are extremely rare and highly sought after by serious collectors worldwide. Prepared by Andy Cowap. Approximately 170 million years old.
Age Jurassic, Inferior Oolite, Humphriesianum Zone
  Size Size of ammonite 65mm
  location Oborne Wood, Dorset, UK

  price £ 325.00

  ref AMM3848
This rare example has taken many hours to prepare and has been preserved in solid light brown calcite. It has a perfect centre and nice spines. Near the ammonite's aperture lies a cluster of surpulid worm tubes which are a really nice and interesting feature. The ammonite itself was collected in 1979 from a temporary exposure. The specimen has a cut base for upright display and is approximately 174 million years old.

Click to enlarge   Name Brasilia platychora (Beautiful rare multi)
  ref AMM3847
Long gone are the days when you could walk the beaches of Bearreraig and discover pieces like this magnificent multi display piece which has been prepared by Andy Cowap. Along with the main ammonite the other two specimens are a Brasilia aff. subcornuta 48mm (BUCKMAN)and Ludwigia cf. agria 43mm (BUCKMAN). All three of these ammonites are morphospecies. The ammonites have been preserved in beautiful shades of solid calcite. Bearraig as a fossil producing locality is no more, due in part to little or no erosion and over collecting by students, academics and private individuals. A very rare piece which is approximately 176 million years old, which was discovered in 1988.
